Why is my Life Assurance invoice amount different every month?
Why is my Life Assurance invoice amount different every month?

If you have leavers or new joiners, your Life Assurance premium will vary - as well as for salary raises.

Updated this week

The cost for Life Assurance in Ireland depends on your current employees salaries. As so, Kota recalculates every month the due amount for this benefit by checking if there were any new joiners, leavers, or base salary changes.

Here's an example for an employer who has opted to have Life Assurance cover for 4 times their employees salaries, and their unit cost per mille is 1.51. Let's look at their invoice amounts for two different months:

  • January

    10 employees

    Total salaries: €500,000
    Insured amount: €500,000 * 4 = €2,000,000
    Invoice amount: (€2,000,000 / 1000) * 1.51 = €3,020 p/year, which makes €251.67 p/month

  • February (one employee left the company)

    9 employees

    Total salaries: €450,000
    Insured amount: €450,000 * 4 = €1,800,000
    Invoice amount: (€1,800,000 / 1000) * 1.51 = €2,718 p/year, which makes €226.50 p/month
